Well, even though I’m posting content out of order for the bootcamp, I thought it would be helpful to provide my introduction early on. So… where to begin?
I am an academic technology specialist at Emmanuel College in Boston. I am relatively new to Emmanuel, and spent the last two years working in instructional technology at Wellesley College. I have a B.A. in psychology and pre-medicine, and currently have no intention of doing anything with either of those areas beyond bringing up random factoids in conversation, and next month will be starting a GIS program at Penn State that I am very excited about. (For those of you not in the know, GIS stands for geographic information systems. Basically it’s mapping and spatial data analysis which has so many applications for the humanities and social sciences, from tracking the spread of epidemics to mapping out important locations in a novel. I could go on and on about this subject, but I digress.)
And in my spare time I write YA fantasy, go on over-ambitious hiking and cycling expeditions, and am learning classical guitar. I like to keep busy.
I suppose that’s enough for now. I’ll be posting again soon, so I should probably leave some things as mysteries.
